Tuina

Tui-Na Massage Therapy is used to increase the flow of blood and lymph circulation and generally relax, and reduce stress and muscular tension. Tui-Na (pronounced "twee-nah") makes use of many different strokes that are applied to acupoints, channels and muscle groups. Most importantly, Tui-Na is a physical expression of the flow of Qi energy from one human being to another. When done with correct intent, the strokes and techniques stimulate an exchange of Qi energy between the practitioner and the patient, and this is the secret healing power of Tui-Na.
Tuina is the massage technique of the Traditional Chinese Medicine. It combines strengthening, activating and relaxing methods and includes several techniques as massage of soft tissue, acupressure and gentle chiropractic techniques. During the treatment the patient stays fully clothed and is covered with a thin cotton towel.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is an ancient Chinese form of alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin; practitioners believe this mobilizes blood flow in order to promote healing.Suction is created using heat (fire) or mechanical devices (manual or electrical pumps). Today, most acupuncturists use cups made of thick glass or plastic, although bamboo, iron and pottery cups are still used in other countries. Glass cups are the preferred method of delivery, because they do not break as easily as pottery or deteriorate like bamboo, and they allow the acupuncturist to see the skin and evaluate the effects of treatment.
Hot cupping (Fire Cupping) is a technique that is especially useful in the treatment of problems of local Qi, or Blood stagnation in the channels. It can also be very helpful in expelling the external pathogenic factor of Wind-Cold that can invade the body. This form of treatment is usually performed as a supplement or an alternative to acupuncture. In a typical cupping session, glass cups are warmed using a cotton ball, which is soaked in alcohol, then placed inside the cup. Burning a substance inside the cup removes all the oxygen, which creates a vacuum, the cups usually stay in place from 5-10 minutes.
As the substance burns, the cup is turned upside-down so that the practitioner can place the cup over a specific area. The vacuum created by the lack of oxygen anchors the cup to the skin and pulls it upward on the inside of the glass as the air inside the jar cools. Drawing up the skin is believed to open up the skin’s pores, which helps to stimulate the flow of blood, balances and realigns the flow of qi, breaks up obstructions, and creates an avenue for toxins to be t
Manual pump cupping (Dry Cupping)
The cupping procedure commonly involves creating a small area of low air pressure next to the skin. However, there is variety in the tools used, the method of creating the low pressure, and the procedures followed during the treatment. The cups can be various shapes including balls or bells, and may range in size from 1 to 3 inches (25 to 76 mm) across the opening. Plastic and glass are the most common materials used today, replacing the horn, pottery, bronze and bamboo cups used in earlier times. The low air pressure required may be created by heating the cup or the air inside it with an open flame or a bath in hot scented oils, then placing it against the skin. As the air inside the cup cools, it contracts and draws the skin slightly inside. More recently, vacuum can be created with a mechanical suction pump acting through a valve located at the top of the cup. Rubber cups are also available that squeeze the air out and adapt to uneven or bony surfaces.
